ACQUIAINTANCE WITH AGRICULTURAL LIFE
“Little farmers in action” program brings children in direct contact with nature and rural process. Children gather olives and step on grapes, knead their own olive-bread, make “moustokouloura” traditional cookies made with must and get to know mythology through narrations and theatrical dramatization. In the end, they have learned a lot of useful things for the experience of rural life, but also the labour that this involves.
INTRODUCTION TO PROPER DIET
The programs“the gift of bee to human”, ““the gift of bee to human”: Honey sweet and miraculous, and "the nutritional value of breakfast for children", aim on one side in highlighting the proper diet as a factor of great importance from the early age already – but also in creating bonds between children and our tradition. From wheat to bread and from the beehive in the process of honey collection, children learn to prepare their own bread as well as the basics in apiculture, while they receive useful information regarding to the beneficial and harmful nutritional habits.
On the occasion of Christmas, Easter and Carnival, children familiarize with the admirable world of Greek customs, enriching their knowledge on mythology, narrations and the Greek tradition.
The Objective here is to cultivate critical thought on children and their familiarization with our cultural heritage, through the observation of wine and olive industry’s tools and machinery but also of domestic equipment that dates back in 17th century up to the 20th century.
Personality and self-confidence of children are developed through, interaction, improvisation and study of methods inspired from the theatre.
